Broudy sits on the boards of Richmond Mountain Trails, VMBA, and Vermont Huts. She is a co-founder of ConservationNext and has previously served on the boards of Conservation Alliance, Outdoor Industry Women’s Coalition, Fellowship of the Wheel, CragVT, Catamount Trail Association, and Vermont Blues Society. <image:caption>Rob began leading volunteer trail nights for RMT in the summer of 2021, and joined the board that fall. He is the trail boss at The Driving Range and splits his volunteer time between RMT, Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports and the Kelly Brush Foundation. Rob is one of the first BICP Level 2 adaptive mountain bike instructors in the country, and uses his experience to build accessible trails that are fun and challenging for all riders. Off the trails you will find him welding his own bike frames, cooking too much food, and drinking as many cortados as possible. Rob is serving as RMT’s Trail Boss.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Glenn Hartman-Mattson</image:title>
<image:caption>Glenn and her husband moved to Vermont in 2019 and tried out a bunch of spots (Lincoln, Monkton, Hinesburg, Vergennes, Stowe, Waitsfield, Charlotte) before deciding Richmond was the best! Before moving to the Green Mountain State, Glenn worked and lived at semester schools abroad and bounced around the west for a bit. She grew up in northern Minnesota playing ice hockey and canoeing in the Boundary Waters. Glenn works as a Major Gifts Officer at Middlebury College. Like many in Richmond, she likes to ski, mountain bike, gravel bike, hike, and take her dog, Mako, on trails through the woods.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Max joined the RMT board in 2021 and has been helping advocate for bikes, trails, and conservation throughout his life. Max is also a member of the Richmond Conservation Commission. Max loves building new trails, making old trails even better, riding with friends, and getting distracted by birds and mushrooms along the way. If you see Max on the trail, say hi and ask him for a fun fact. (Fun fact, a wombat's poop is cube shaped). Max is RMT’s current Secretary.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The newest RMT Board Member, Ryan got dragged into volunteering with RMT by fellow board member Rob Galloway in 2021. Ryan has been riding, racing, and daydreaming about mountain bikes since 2007, and digging trails for most of that time. A BICP adaptive mountain bike instructor, he also volunteers with Vermont Adaptive on both bikes and skis. With experience in public land management and outdoor recreation, Ryan loves sharing his passion for bikes and the outdoors with others. When the trails get covered in snow, you can find Ryan bushwhacking through the woods on skis.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Merrick joined the board in the fall of 2022. Formerly a Village resident, he now lives in West Bolton. Merrick is often found working on the trails, taking his bike for a walk, or with his nose in a map. Working as a civil engineer by day, Merrick will also happily talk your ear off about local infrastructure needs and planning. He delights himself in the constant search for the perfect flat corner, and riding long forgotten roads and trails that meander throughout the landscape. <image:title>About - Gunnar Nurme</image:title>
<image:caption>Gunnar joined the RMT board in 2026. Gunnar moved to Vermont in 2023 and settled in Richmond in 2024 where he fell in love with our welcoming, tight-knit, and active community. Gunnar is passionate about trails, conservation, and protecting and expanding access to the outdoors. In his day job, he does land conservation work for the VT Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. Gunnar also currently serves on the board of the Association of Vermont Conservation Commissions, and some past experiences include working on trail crews and working as a mountain guide. Gunnar is an avid trail runner and mountain biker and feels lucky to live in a community with such great trail access, whether on foot or on wheels. Gunnar loves a perfectly shaped drain, laughing with friends in the woods, a well-earned post run/ride creemee, and when the trails aren't dry maybe nothing more than a good powder turn.</image:caption>

What started as an attempt to keep up with her family turned into a real love for being out on the trails. Bec has been grateful to discover a mountain bike community full of welcoming, adventurous and kind individuals. When not biking or managing RMT operations, Bec is hiking with her dog, digging in the garden and building lego with her kids.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Ben Knight grew up in rural North Carolina and left home at 17 after just barely passing his GED exam. Knight pointed his camera and a reasonably reliable Oldsmobile due west in 1996 and spent 28 years in Colorado. Nineteen of them in Telluride where an annual film festival called Mountainfilm inspired him to leave photojournalism for filmmaking. Now, at 46, Knight has won more than 70 film festival awards for shorts and features and was nominated for National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year for his 2014 documentary DamNation. His 2019 film The Last Honey Hunter was qualified for a Short Documentary Oscar and his most recent film Learning to Drown premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC.</image:caption>

<image:title>People - Berne Broudy, Producer and Co-Director</image:title>
<image:caption>Berne Broudy is a veteran outdoor and travel journalist turned director and producer who spends as much time outdoors as humanly possible, who won't accept the status quo, and who passionately pursues her interests. Broudy was born in New York City, grew up in Connecticut, and attended Williams College. After biking cross-country with no cycling experience with a philosophy of religion major in hand, she tried a career in international development relations before pivoting to full-time guiding in South America, Europe, and the U.S. For the past 25 years, she has been a professional writer and photographer based in Vermont and frequently on the road in far-flung locations including Greenland, Mongolia, Ghana, Namibia, Norway, and Nepal. The outdoors is where Broudy finds inspiration, happiness, and peace. So in 2017, she co-founded the grassroots mountain bike trail club that recently completed the first-known fully adaptive-bike-friendly trail network. "We didn't know exactly what we were doing or how to do it, but we knew we had to try," says Broudy. "Then we witnessed trails breaking down ableism. We saw the community coalescing. And we knew we had to tell the story to inspire others."</image:caption>

<image:title>People - Greg Durso, Athlete and Associate Producer</image:title>
<image:caption>Greg Durso grew up on Long Island playing soccer, skiing, boating, and wakeboarding. In 2009, he suffered a spinal cord injury bailing off a plastic sled at a ski area and landing on a stump, and became paralyzed from the chest down. He bought a beginner handcycle as soon as he got out of the hospital, and biked 20 miles with Kelly Brush, founder of the Kelly Brush Foundation. Today, Durso works as program director for the Kelly Brush Foundation and awards equipment grants to individuals with spinal cord injuries. "That ride was my first goal post injury," said Durso. "I accomplished it and never looked back. Having disability-friendly equipment and recreation infrastructure helped me thrive after my injury. It's my life's work to grow access to both.” Durso is now an adaptive mountain bike instructor, and he will compete in the MTB U.S. Open in September 2024.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Richmond, Vermont native Allie Bianchi has always been an avid outdoorswoman who loves spending time in the mountains. In August 2022, as she was entering her second year of teaching second-grade special education, Allie broke her neck at the C5 C6 level in a mountain biking accident. Since then she has been working hard to get back to the mountain she loves. In the last year, Allie has resumed skiing and biking. She recently purchased an adaptive mountain bike with the help of a grant from The Kelly Brush Foundation. "Adaptive sports equipment and the help of the Kelly Brush Foundation has made it possible for me to find new ways to do the things I've always loved with both old friends and new ones!" said Allie. "I feel so supported by the community to accomplish my goals."</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Driving Range is more than just a trail network; it's a testament to the power of inclusivity and what a community can accomplish when it rallies around a common goal. The Driving Range is a trail network where adaptive and able-bodied riders can recreate together. It's a network that belongs to the riders who built it and ride it, both able-bodied and adaptive. It's a place where intermediate and advanced riders feel welcome and can find challenges. When a recreational space is inclusive, everyone feels at home. And for all riders that like spicy, heart-pounding trails, the Driving Range shows what's possible.</image:caption>
